BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham man told police he stabbed his mother to death because he is a werewolf and she is a vampire, according to investigators.
Police say Smith made numerous statements to officers and detectives about why he stabbed his mother, including a statement that he was a werewolf and his mother was a vampire.
Bellingham police tweeted on Sunday that there also was a “sexual motivation” for the stabbing. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine if the victim had been sexually assaulted, according to the Bellingham Herald.
“The defendant admitted to police that he’s been using a lot of meth recently, which is the reason for the voices in his head,” chief criminal deputy prosecutor Eric Richey said at Smith’s arraignment on Monday.
